Shutting out the noise

Balancing & shutting out the noise in your mind to focus on the important things

This morning someone shared a post on a WhatsApp group that I am on, and the gist of the post was that we need to view opposition as an opportunity.

Have you even been there focusing your energies on something but somehow everything around you is screaming “bad idea” or “no, you can’t do it” or worse still, you are encouraging everyone that things will be okay but somehow things are literally falling apart your end?

If it all seems a bit familiar, then I hope this post helps in not only giving you perspective but encouraging you that it is okay, keep pushing everything will eventually fall together and you will be glad you stayed on course.

Even more, I hope this reminds you that it is absolutely okay to be in that place where you even feel like a fraud because things are not panning out as you are preaching. What will make a difference is the choice you make in between. Staying the course or accepting and letting the opposition win.

Anyway, without going into a lot of detail, this post alluded to the fact that in times of opposition we need to adjust our vision, renew our minds, and realize that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

That instead of backing away from the opposition, we should face it head on and look for the opportunity in the opposition. The author who is unknown to me noted that there is always something in the confusion, chaos, break up, betrayal and disappointment that is meant for our vindication. In his perfect time, he will come through for us.

Dear reading friend, this was a very timely message for me, and I hope it is for you or someone else that you know. From my experience two years ago, I believe that indeed weeping may last for a night, but JOY does come in the morning. However, what I am still learning is that it is possible for the JOY to come and pass you by because you are too engrossed in the weeping to notice the new visitor JOY.

Heard that story of Martha and Mary when they had Jesus visiting but one of them was busy preparing for the visitors while the other set aside everything and sat by the feet of Jesus to listen and be fully present? Well, looks more like what we need to do as opposed to letting ourselves be distracted by everything that we need to do or that is not going right, we need to pause, reflect, and refocus on the important thing at the moment.

We need to close our eyes and shut out the opposition so that we stay focused on the important things.

You are probably thinking, easier said than done; and yeah, I agree with you. I am also still harnessing the skill of staying focused on the important things and I wish it was as easy as it sounds. What I know for sure is that it is possible. Kisoboka and therefore Bulyomu agumye Munne! Loosely translated as “It is possible. Let’s comfort each other.”

Hope & Faith,

F.I.R.M
